Carrie Marie Underwood, The Twitter sphere is ablaze with the rumor that Ottawa Senators forward Mike Fisher is engaged to American music star Carrie Underwood.

The news has not been confirmed by Fisher, 29, or Underwood, 26, and a Senators publicist said the National Hockey League team does not comment on players’ personal lives.

Fisher’s Wikipedia page had been updated Sunday night to say the couple was engaged — but time will tell whether that will stay unchanged. Underwood’s Wikipedia page did not have the news, nor did her official website.

On Twitter, a user giving the name Colin Peter tweeted that he attended a Christmas party with Mike Fisher’s cousin, who received a call from family to share the news.

“Congratulations to mike fisher and Carrie Underwood! We just got the call at our family Christmas get together :)”

Carrie Underwood fans using Twitter reported seeing Peter’s account with the original tweet announcing the engagement before he protected his account due to mass attention. One claims Peter confirmed the news in a private message when asked.

A number of minor celebrity blogs and websites picked up on the Twitter rumor mill Sunday night, though none went so far as to confirm the news.
